We are taking any suggestions.
We have been working on some DC-powered pump systems. The current market with DC pumps is dominated by the bilge pump companies and they all have good flow but almost have Head Pressure or Pounds Per square Inch PSI. I am looking for more head pressure to drive a small dredge or even a small high banker that you can take further than 30 feet or so.
Our goal is to build a better pump using batteries or some sort of battery system. I have seen a few battery-powered dredges, but I was not impressed. Only one guy has done it right with a truly high-powered P90 pump driven by DC power packs: Vortex Gold Mining. I just purchased one of his drive systems and am waiting for some battery components to build my own batteries.
The cool thing about my testing is I am using a new 3D printer. I am able to make up some prototype pumps and test them before casting them.
I am working on some new pump designs that might provide a little better performance with lower voltage and amp draw, so if anyone has any input, we are open to any ideas.

I don't see power or weight being an issue with battery. Issue is thst type battery doesn't like water. It explodes. Y'alls main concern should be making it safe water proof
Armorage batteries . They custom make them. A s are amazing
We had David Frank 's running around 60v things a beast 😈
What is the point of doing this? Is it to be quiet or another reason? I’m guessing the weight difference wouldn’t be much different than a gas motor. If noise is an issue, wouldn’t it be better to create a “silencer” for the exhaust that doesn’t bog down the motor? What’s the longevity of the battery/batteries? Could a solar panel be hooked to it to extend operating time? How about a small portable pelton wheel attached to an alternator? I’m honestly curious
Contact Hybrid Technology in San Bernardino, Norm there builds an impressive small form tesla pump, huge flow and pressure. Small engine.
Which printer did you end up with? I'm looking into the new Creality K2... Got some ideas I've been wanting to try out
They have AC centtifacal spa pumps, 220gpm, changing to DC can't be that hard, four 12v batteries equal 48v many electric bike motors run on 48v
Vortxrex Gold Mining Can't wait to hear how you like it. I run mine on a 54v
I just got into e pitbikes and I’ve been doing a lot of research into upgrading it. Have you looked into e motorcycle motor setups? All the power you need, the battery research is already there and they are highly programmable.i think $300 would get you a motor with enough power I think for a p90. Fardriver controllers are run in the high end emotorcycles and range from 36v up to 96v and up to 1000 amps depending on unit. The72v360amp unit is $359. There’s a new style controller called Vesc and they are along the same high voltage/high current ratings but around $100. Amazon has the 12v100ah lipo batteries for $159. It looks like you’re running a brushed setup for the motor. What kind of controller are you using?
Mark Keene and David Frank: My development of an electric-powered water pump has been ongoing for five years. During the same period, I have also been working on designing a nozzle for a suction dredge. I use advanced CAD software, including ANSYS, for theoretical designs, which are then validated through practical testing. The pump is still under development and undergoing optimization. Keene blogs are great, but they lack one crucial piece of information—it is impossible to precisely determine the nozzle diameter for a suction dredge, such as a 2" dredge, without considering the pump's characteristics. It is generally accepted that using a pressure pump is necessary to achieve good results. While this is partially true, the determining factors are kinetic energy and efficiency. It's great that we're both working on electric dredges. Let's see in the new year how far each of us has progressed toward better results. David, is it allowed in the US to use 54-60V in a water environment? Here in Europe, we have a maximum of 24V (DC). David, to answer your questions: the operating pressure for the dredge is currently 0.65 bar with a power input of 350W, and the maximum pump pressure is 1.42 bar. Even now, the 2" dredge is performing (working) well (with custom design power jet). At the beginning of 2025, I’d be happy to make some field videos so that my words aren’t just empty talk. Wondering if you can build a pump like a oil pump in a automotive engine
I got a akita 18v to 12v adapter that I have used on a high banker and it worked fine the advantage I see is tool batteries are lighter and easier than a 12v car battery and when you get old weight matters
It would be very cool if we could get the battery weight down.
What you are doing sounds super cool.🧚
Inclosed impeller, or maybe rubber impeller like on gear pumps.
Multi stage pump like a fire pump? Volume and pressure stages being separate may help reduce the load
Need to build a more efficient pump and nozzle. If you want to use a current pump I would look into the qs-138 motors. From there you can fine tune the power and rpms etc. could probably run a p90 on the smaller qs 90 or 120 motors.
DIY high-performance pump Voltage: 12-20V Water-cooled motor and electronics Smooth speed control Works great with a 2" suction dredge
What electric dredges have you used and why where you not impressed?
I built an electric set up in one of your 2” dredges a few years ago… Building them is half the fun for sure !!!
I was out MTB riding with a friend after work a few nights ago. This is so important as we get older to continue to push hard and play hard. There will be some pain and suffering later, but we will get over it. If you slow down and and stop doing your activities such as Mining, Hiking, Biking, Surfing, Camping, etc, it is so hard to start back up again. So do your best to never stop. At 64 I feel very blessed to have high energy levels and love life. My lower back is terrible, so I am trying new things to improve. I am on Prolotherapy, trying to stimulate my body's own repair mechanisms. I am in three months, and I am feeling better. Plus, my back has not gone out in over three months. The procedures are not fun, but what is a little discomfort in the big picture. My regular doctors tell me I could use a microdiscectomy or ever a fusion. After seeing my wife go through 5 spine surgeries with poor results, I will not go under the knife.
My activity levels are way up, and I could do a lot of mining on my vacation, much better than a few months and even years. My wife, Liz, tells me to slow down and rest. I tell her that I will rest when I am dead.

I also will continue to mine, I clean 2 houses a day, I'm 62, play basketball still too lol anyway, I am a hands on healer and do acupressure toxin reduction therapy I would love to help if necessary. Have an active day
I agree Mark. I keep telling my self stop worrying I’ll sleep and rest for a thousand years later.
